Shopping Trip to CVS: Cheap Body Wash and Soda!

I was recently planning to buy these items and when a great sale came up, I was thrilled. I stocked up on some cheap body wash and four cases of soda which should last us awhile. It’s been great getting back into the swing of using coupons with one of my favorite places to shop, CVS. This purchase was made over two transactions: one for the initial items that had ECBs on them and a second to use up the ECBs I had just received. I love how CVS allows you to use the ECBs you get on the same day you receive them. I thought it was a pretty good day and simple enough that I didn’t want to hide from the cashier out of couponing shame.

2014-01-22 17.49.21

Transaction One:

  • 2 Irish Spring Body Wash: $3.00 each on sale, used 2 $1.00/1 coupons (SS 1/19/14, exp. 2/8/14) = $4.00 for both
  • 2 Softsoap Body Wash: $3.00 each on sale, used $1.00/2 coupon (SS 1/19/14, exp. 2/8/14) = $ 5.00 for both

The total was $9.54 after coupons and tax. This is like getting each bottle for only $2.38. Not fantastic, but I also received $6.00 in ECBs for purchasing 4/$12.00 worth of these selected products.

Transaction Two:

  • 4 12-Can Cases of Coca Cola Products: $2.50 each on sale, buy $30 in selected products and receive $10 ECBs (just FYI), and I used $6.00 ECBs from Transaction One = $4.24 for all four cases with tax

So essentially, I got all eight items for a total of $13.78, which I thought was awesome. A total savings of $30.92 after coupons and sales.

Shopping Trip: CVS, Rite Aid, and Target

Well, I’m back at home now, though I had a blast visiting my mom and sister! We went out shopping again on Saturday and raked in even more good deals. Take a look!

2013-10-12 16.33.12

Target: These deals were done in two separate transactions. We bought:

  • 2 Marie Callender’s Easy Sides: $1.27 each regular price, used 2 $.75/1 coupons (SS 10/6/13, exp. 11/17/13) and $1/2 target coupon = $0.04 for both
  • 4 Bottles of Tresemme Conditioner: $3.31 each regular price, used 4 $2.50/1 coupons (RP 9/29/13, exp. 10/27/13) and 2 $2/2 target coupons = $0.76 money maker
  • 2 Up and Up Toothbrushes: $1.24 each regular price, used 2 $1/1 target coupons = $0.24 each

The total for both transactions only cost $0.52 cents before tax! Wow!

CVS: This was also an amazing deal. We used a $4.98 ECB to cover the out of pocket cost and only ended up paying .12 cents!

  • 2 Right Guard Xtreme Deodorant: buy 2 and receive $1.50 ECBs, 2/$6 on sale, used 2 $1.50/1 coupons (RP 10/6/13, exp. 11/3/13) = $1.50 for both after ECBs and coupons
  • 2 Oral B Toothbrush Refills: buy 2 and receive $4.00 ECBs, $5.99 each on sale, used 2 $5/1 coupons (PG 9/29/13, exp. 10/31/13) = $2.02 money maker after ECBs and coupons

Rite Aid: The bottles of Purex fabric softener crystals aren’t pictured in the image above, but these were on sale for the best price I have ever seen on this product. I had to pick some up anyway to make another batch of my homemade laundry detergent powder. My first batch lasted well over a year much to my delight.

  • 2 Bottles Purex Crystals: $3.99 on sale (regular price was $7.69!), used 2 $1/1 coupons (RP 10/6/13, exp. 11/3/13) = $6.34 final price for both

Some of these deals were first seen on The Krazy Coupon Lady.

Shopping Trip: CVS and Giant

Last night, we had a quick dinner at Arby’s with free item coupons from the paper and My Arby’s Rewards and then we went out shopping. There’s nothing better than spending a night with family and then hunting for good deals. I had a couple good deals to shop for, but wasn’t feeling my best, so I didn’t get everything on my list. I’m planning on waiting until I get home to do the bulk of my shopping. These deals are no longer available.

2013-10-12 06.26.26

Giant: Here, I bought ten large cans of Furmano’s tomatoes. The price came down to thirty cents and I was very pleased. I bought:

  • 10 Cans Furmano’s Tomatoes: 5 for $4 on sale, used 5 $1/2 coupons (SS 9/29, exp. 11/30) = .30 cents each or $3.00 total

2013-10-12 06.26.11

CVS: I bought a great deal on Folger’s coffee here. I like coffee but caffeinated coffee is often too strong for me. I plan to mix these half and half. I bought:

  • 2 Canisters Folger’s Coffee: 2 for $5 on sale, used a $1/2 (RP 9/29, exp. 10/31) got back $1 ECBs = 2/$3 after sale, coupon, and ECB’s

Tell Me: What awesome deals have you found lately?

A Week of Savings and Fun: Part Two

Recently, I posted about spending time with my family while using coupons and scoring some great deals. The beginnings of my mini-vacation led to some great shopping trips, but the trips that took place over the weekend were the best! I figure we saved at least $170 after all was said and done!

Saturday: Rite Aid

This shopping trip was one of the more memorable ones with almost $40.00 in savings after coupons and sale prices.

2013-03-16_18-33-49_118

We bought:

  • 2 Almay Concealers: $10.18 total sale price, used $5.00/2 coupon (coupons.com) and 1 $3.00/1 coupon (riteaid.com) =  final prices were .79 cents and $1.39
  • 4 Nature Made Vitamelts: BOGO for $8.99, used 2 $2.25 coupons (coupons.com), received $1.00 up reward = $12.48 total after up reward
  • 4 Bags of Chex Mix: $1.50 each sale price, used 2 $.50/1 coupons and 2 $.60/1 coupons (coupons.com), received $1.00 up reward = .70 cents each after coupons and up reward

For a total of $17.46 after coupons and up rewards. That’s a savings of $39.48!

Saturday: Staples

This was our trip to collect supplies for our new coupon binders. My mom gave me two coupons and the discount made for really cheap, yet good quality, coupon binder materials.

2013-03-16_18-48-01_0

I purchased:

  • 1 Staples 20 Page Tabbed Dividers: 50% off Staples tab dividers coupon = $2.49
  • 1 Staples Better Binder: 50% off a Staples better binder = $6.49

The total was $9.52 after coupons.

Sunday: Kohl’s

2013-03-17_14-14-49_28

We actually went into Kohl’s twice, once to take advantage of the clearance clothing sale they’ve got and a second time later in the day for my grandmother because she needed new small kitchen appliances. Well, we saved over $130.00 in sales and a 20% off family and friends savings pass on the first trip alone!

  • 1 bra, 3 shirts, 1 pair sleep pants = saved $130.24
  • 1 toaster, 1 blender, and 1 coffee maker = saved $72.03

For a total savings of $202.27!

A Week of Savings and Fun: Part One

I haven’t posted much on Casey’s News and Reviews lately because I’ve been spending some much deserved quality time with my mom, sister, and grandmother. While on this mini-vacation, we have had some couponing adventures and really racked up the savings! So, I decided to share our trips with you. My mother shared her sources, The Krazy Coupon Lady and For the Mommas, as where she finds her great deals. My intent on showing you these trips is to show you what you can also do as a deal finder. The possibilities and savings really are endless!

Thursday: CVS

This trip consisted of one transaction and some serious candy coupons! This week’s inserts have the same coupons that were used in this transaction last week.

Friday: Target

Our trip to Target consisted of another great set of deals as seen on Krazy Coupon Lady and some extras at regular price that will also lead to saving even more money. The baseball card holders are for my new coupon binder and my mom purchased a 20 oz. thermal bottle so she can transport her own coffee to work instead of buying it at a convenience store. And clearly, the animals are spoiled.

2013-03-16_13-41-28_593

We bought:

  • 15 Cesar Canine Cuisines: sale price $9.90, used 4 BOGO coupons (RP 3/3/13 exp. 4/27/13)  and used 1 $3.00/15 store coupon (target.com) = .13 cents each
  • 5 Sheba Cat Food Cans: sale price .59 cents each, used 1 $1/5 store coupon (target.com) = .39 cents each

  • 35 Pages of Baseball Card Holder Pages: $4.99 pregular price (for use in a coupon binder)
  • 20 oz. Contigo Thermal Mug: $22.99 regular price

The total after coupons was $35.90.

Shopping Trip: Weis

This week, I ran into Weis for some tortilla chips and soda and ended up coming out with a little more than I expected. I know, I know, always be a prepared shopper, but I couldn’t help that there were some really great deals that I had failed to notice when I went through the store circulars on Sunday. Good deals equal a win though. These deals included some sales on produce and were so good that I didn’t need coupons to get a great price. Especially, the English Muffins. These go on a Buy One Get Two Free every once in a blue moon.

2012-12-12_17-51-28_828

These deals included:

  • 2 2-liter bottles of soda: $1.00 each
  • 2 Bags of Potatoes: BOGO at regular price of $4.99
  • 2 Bags of Spinach: BOGO at regular price of $2.99
  • 3 Bags of Thomas’ English Muffins: Buy One Get Two Free at regular price of $4.19 (I love these things!)
  • 2 Boxes of Ronzoni Smart Pasta: $1.00 each
  • Minute Maid Orange Juice: on sale $2.50
  • Philadelphia Cream Cheese Two-Pack: $2.99 (these were on Rollback at Walmart for $2.50)

For a total of $21.66 for these deals alone.

Great Shopping Trip: Giant Food Stores

Originally, I had set off for Giant to get points for a free Thanksgiving turkey. Get 400 points and get a free turkey; I can live with that. They had some really good sales in the circular on products I love and I only had to spend about $23 on other groceries, before coupons, for the turkey. This is a yearly deal and the only other store that offers this in my area wanted customers to spend $100 to get enough points for a free turkey. (Yeah, I don’t think so, especially since I don’t shop there often.)

Well, I used to overlook Giant because I thought their prices weren’t competitive. However, when I walked in yesterday, a clearanced cart full of Bob’s Red Mill natural hot cereals greeted me. I grabbed some since I have never seen a coupon or sale on these before. I’ve always wanted to try these, but I could never bring myself to spend that much money for a small bag of something that I may not even like.

Here are the details:

  • 8 Healthy Choice Soups: $1.00 each on sale = $8.00 for all
  • 2 Turkey Hill Ice Cream Cartons: $2.50 each on sale, used 1 $1.00/2 coupon (RP 7/29/2012, exp. 10/31/2012) = $2.00 each
  • 4 Alexia Frozen Potatoes: $3.00 each on sale, used 4 $.55/1 coupons, doubled to $1.00 (SS 9/16/2012, exp. 10/28/2012) = $ 8.00 for all
  • 3 Bob’s Red Mill Hot Cereals: $2.09 each on clearance (regularly $4.19 each)
  • 2 Bob’s Red Mill Hot Cereals: $2.79 each on clearance (regularly $5.59 each)
  • Voucher for one free Giant Brand Frozen Turkey up to 20 lbs. OR $.80 off per pound any other frozen turkey redeemable 11/11-11/24

For a total of $31.85 after sales, coupons, and clearance prices. Seeing as how a 20 lb. turkey alone can cost that much, I thought it was a pretty good deal. I’ve certainly learned to never overlook any store’s circulars or clearances and that, if it comes down to it, I can always price match those sales at Walmart.
