Review: Starbucks Veranda Blonde Roast Coffee

Our Back Story: This past weekend, my mom, sister, and I packed up the car and headed to Seaside Heights, New Jersey to enjoy a relaxing, beach vacation. The boardwalk was completely redone after Hurricane Sandy and a fire that had wiped out a few  of the shops afterwards. Except for the boardwalk itself, most of the shops were still standing and the same as I remember them from six years ago. We had already called ahead to ask for a coffee maker and because they were so slow since it is the off-season, the motel was more than happy to oblige. Also, because of  visiting in the off-season, my mom has gotten to know the owners of the Sunburst Motel where we stayed and we were treated more like locals or well known friends. I highly recommend going in the spring if you can because there’s less people and even though the water is freezing and you really can’t go swimming, it is still nice when it is sunny. We lucked out because the weekend was perfect! Anyway, each morning we woke up to the scent of freshly brewed Starbucks Blonde Roast coffee and bright, sunny days.

imageOur Review: This product had rave reviews from my family members. Comments like “it’s really smooth and not bitter at all” and ”it doesn’t make me shake” made this coffee a great experience for me personally because I love it when my family tries new products that I bring along and they actually like them. Since I have to be on a day schedule when I visit my family, I become a very enthusiastic coffee drinker over that period of time. This blonde roast, while it wasn’t very different in color, had a very distinct flavor. While it is mellow, there is no strange, bitter aftertaste and, as my sister put it, “it doesn’t have an aftertaste even when you use Stevia”, which has it’s own slight bitterness. It is very easy to make the perfect cup of coffee with the Veranda Roast and because it is so easy to drink. I find I want a lot more than just one cup. Yesterday, I went past my limits and had one too many cups, in which I started to shake, suggesting to me that it does have at least the same amount of caffeine as any other brand of coffee.

We are halfway through the bag already and it has kept its freshness. The package itself says it is best to brew it within one week of opening the bag for the most freshness and it’s been a little bit past that time, but it still tastes fresh. Usually, I have to add a large amount of sweetener and plenty of creamer to other brands of coffee, just to avoid the bitterness, but I find myself using less with the Veranda Roast. I’ve never really seen coupons for this product, but I do know that it does go on sale every once in awhile in stores. To me, the coffee is very worth it, and this is probably going to be my preferred grocery store-carried brand because it is so mellow and delicious.

Tell Me: What’s your favorite brand of coffee and how do you fix up your coffee to perfection? I would love some ideas to try out myself!image
